Overview

Fugamix Spin-Mix-Spin Centrifuge-Vortexers or Vortexing Centrifuges are uniquely designed for laboratories in which time is crucial and space is limited. The Fugamix systems are designed to combine two of the most frequent functions in a laboratory: mixing and spinning, in a single machine.

The Fugamix Spin-Mix-Spin centrifuges save time otherwise lost from handing samples between centrifuges and vortex mixers. Designed with custom protocols in mind these units are programmable for all routine and custom applications.

A programmable sample preparation mode performs simple and effective spin-mix-spin sequences. A cycle consists of variable strength vortexing and 2000 rpm (260 rcf) centrifugation, to wash down the samples from edges of test tubes.

The vortexing strength and duration of the program can be adjusted for the preparation of different samples, from sensitive cell cultures, samples for PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, and enzyme reactions up to more difficult dissolving and lyophilized samples, with maximum efficiency. Excellent results can be achieved working with small volumes of samples, making the whole process more accurate, faster, cheaper and very convenient. By the simple practice of spinning samples before and after mixing, lower reagent volumes can be used with no increase in sample error. The Fugamix Spin-Mix-Spin centrifuge mixers can be used as standard centrifuges or as standard shakers, making them compact and very versatile pieces of laboratory equipment, with applications in such areas as PCR diagnostic laboratories, biochemical clinical laboratories, preparing samples prior to PCR reactions, electrophoresis and enzyme reactions, immunoprecipitations, cell permeabilization by chelating or hydrophobic agents for reactions in situ, low solubility drug testing, cell washing after fermentation, molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, physical and colloidal chemistry, and the study of nanoparticles or analytical chemistry.
